KAI Divre II Sumbar Provides 46,752 Seats During Idul Adha 1447 H
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Division II West Sumatra has provided 46,752 seats during the extended holiday and Idul Adha 1447 H period from May 27 to June 1, 2026. This equates to an average of 7,792 seats per day to meet the mobility needs of West Sumatra residents.
This capacity provision reflects KAI’s readiness to anticipate increased travel demand during the extended holiday period for tourism, family visits, and reunions.
Reza Shahab, Head of Public Relations for KAI Divre II Sumbar, stated that KAI remains committed to providing safe, comfortable, punctual, and reliable public transport services during the extended holiday.
“During this Idul Adha holiday period, KAI Divre II Sumbar ensures all operational services run optimally to provide passengers with a safe and pleasant journey. Trains are increasingly preferred by the public for their convenience, affordability, comfort, and avoidance of road congestion,” Reza said on Tuesday (May 26).
To support passenger needs, KAI Divre II Sumbar operates three local train services: the Minangkabau Express between Pulau Aie and Minangkabau International Airport (BIM), the Pariaman Express between Pauhlima and Naras, and the Lembah Anai between Kayu Tanam and Padang.
The Pariaman Express, operating 10 daily trips, remains a favourite among locals and tourists for its easy access to Pariaman’s Gandoriah Beach. With an affordable fare of Rp5,000, passengers enjoy a quick, safe, and comfortable journey without road congestion during the holiday.
Meanwhile, the Minangkabau Express operates 12 daily trips and serves as a strategic transport link between Minangkabau International Airport and Padang city centre. In addition to general public mobility, the service is also used for educational tourism and student groups via convenient and efficient group ticketing.
The Lembah Anai service operates six daily trips between Kayu Tanam and Padang, offering passengers scenic views of West Sumatra’s landscapes, including hills, rivers, and rural villages, which are a key attraction.
“The presence of local trains in West Sumatra is not only a transport service but also part of KAI’s support for tourism development, regional economic growth, and sustainable community mobility,” Reza added.
As of May 26, 2026, 6,500 local train tickets have been sold for the departure period from May 27 to June 1, representing approximately 14% of the total seat capacity. This figure is expected to rise as ticket sales continue and holiday travel demand increases.
Passengers can book local train tickets via the Access by KAI app, with sales opening seven days before departure.
Reza also urged the public to purchase tickets only through official KAI channels to avoid scams by unauthorised parties.
“We advise passengers to book tickets via the Access by KAI app or other official channels partnered with KAI. Tickets are still available, allowing the public to plan their journeys safely and conveniently,” Reza explained.
With consistent adherence to departure and arrival schedules, KAI ensures passengers enjoy safe, orderly, comfortable, and pleasant journeys during the Idul Adha holiday.
“KAI is committed to continuously improving passenger transport services in terms of safety, comfort, and punctuality. We will also adjust capacity and operations to meet public mobility needs, particularly during high-demand periods such as long weekends and religious holidays,” Reza concluded.
