PT KAI Commuter has issued a statement regarding the incident where a Toyota Innova was struck by a KRL train on the Bogor-Jakarta Kota route at a level crossing in the Soleh Iskandar area, Bogor City. KAI Commuter is demanding compensation from the car driver for the incident.

“KAI Commuter will coordinate with the authorities to proceed with legal action and seek compensation from the four-wheeled vehicle driver for the collision that caused damage to KRL facilities and delays to Commuter Line services,” said KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan in his statement to reporters on Friday (3/4/2026).

KAI Commuter reminded that, in accordance with Law No. 23 of 2007 on Railways, road users are obliged to give priority to approaching trains. Referring to Law No. 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation, Article 114, it states that vehicle drivers must stop when the signal sounds and the train gate begins to close, and must give priority to the approaching train.

“Stop when the signal sounds or when the crossing gate starts moving, and drive orderly. Give priority to the train that is approaching,” said Leza.

Damage to the KRL

The accident involving KRL Commuter Line Bogor No. 1157 (Bogor-Jakarta Kota) occurred at official level crossing No. 27 between Bogor Station and Cilebut Station on Friday (3/4) around 04:00 WIB.

As a result of this collision, Commuter Line Bogor No. 1157 sustained damage to the air pipe channel in the braking system, preventing it from continuing its journey to serve passengers, and it was towed back to Bogor Station for repairs.

“The collision did not result in any casualties among passengers or the train crew,” added Leza.

The incident also caused the Bogor-Cilebut track to be temporarily impassable for trains in both directions during the evacuation process.

“Subsequently, at 05:30 WIB, the evacuation and track inspection processes were completed and declared safe for train operations,” he added.

KRL Services Disrupted

During the evacuation process, it also caused delays and cancellations of two Commuter Line Bogor services in the morning. To minimise delays, until 10:00 WIB, KAI Commuter implemented operational adjustments on 10 Commuter Line Bogor services, with journeys limited to Bojonggede Station and Depok Station before returning to Jakarta Kota.

There were no fatalities in the incident. However, the Toyota Innova driver is known to have fled after the accident.
