KAI Daop Madiun Secures 28 Passengers' Lost Items
Blitar, East Java (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 7 Madiun, East Java, secured a total of 28 items belonging to passengers that were left behind during the 2026 Lebaran transportation period from 11 March to 17 March 2026. “Since the start of the transportation period on 11 March until 17 March 2026, a total of 28 found items left behind were secured by officers. Compared to the previous period during the 2025 Lebaran transportation, there was an increase; at that time, there were 14 items,” said the Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 7 Madiun, Tohari, in his statement received in Blitar, East Java, on Wednesday. He stated that KAI has a lost and found system, so customers do not need to panic if they feel they have left something behind, whether inside the train or in the station area. “This lost and found system is a tangible manifestation of the company’s concern for the security and comfort of customers. This is proven by the return of valuable items worth tens of millions of rupiah that were left behind,” Tohari said. He added that every found item is immediately entered into the KAI lost and found database system. This makes it easier for officers to carry out verification and matching when a customer reports a loss. Meanwhile, the secured items were quite varied, ranging from food, ordinary items to valuable ones. Some of the items included bags, helmets, jackets, hats, as well as tote bags, wallets, mobile phones, laptops, jewellery, and bags containing cash worth millions of rupiah. His side also urged customers to always check their belongings again before alighting from the train or leaving the station. However, if a loss occurs, customers can follow the established procedures. Train passengers can report this to officers at the nearest station, either to customer service or the special railway police (Polsuska). Alternatively, passengers can contact PT KAI’s customer service or via social media. His side also keeps the passengers’ lost items safe. The items are returned directly to the owners by showing identification cards and the chronology of the lost items. “We ensure that every lost item will be secured properly. Customer trust is our priority,” said Tohari.
