KAI Daop Jember offers train ticket discounts during school holidays
Jember, East Java (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Operation (Daop) 9 Jember is offering a 30 per cent discount on tickets for six commercial economy train services during the school holidays, for departures between 20 June and 5 July 2026.
“This programme is a tangible form of KAI’s support as part of the government’s stimulus through the Ministry of Transportation, aimed at encouraging public mobility and economic growth during the school holidays,” said the Manager of Law and Public Relations for KAI Daop 9, Cahyo Widiantoro, in Jember on Saturday.
He noted that the programme was intentionally launched to ease the transportation burden on the public while boosting regional economic activity as passenger mobility surges during the school holiday season. The promotional tickets with commercial price reductions are available for booking starting this Saturday via the Access by KAI application and all other official sales channels.
He stated that the school holiday period always triggers a significant surge in passenger numbers, whether for tourism, returning to hometowns, or family visits. Through this stimulus, KAI aims to ensure that safe and comfortable mass transport remains economically accessible to all segments of society.
“We welcome the stimulus policy from the Ministry of Transportation. For the community within the Daop 9 working area, ranging from Banyuwangi and Jember to Probolinggo, this is a golden opportunity to plan more economical and efficient family trips,” he said.
The fare reduction is expected to act as a driver for the domestic tourism sector and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) located around stations and destination cities.
Cahyo explained that six commercial economy trains are allocated for the 30 per cent discount, serving various strategic routes, ranging from local East Java lines to long-distance journeys to Surabaya, Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Purwokerto, Cilacap, Cirebon, and Jakarta. These include the Blambangan Ekspres (Ketapang – Pasar Senen PP), KA Sangkuriang (Ketapang – Bandung PP), KA Ranggajati (Jember – Cirebon PP), KA Wijayakusuma (Ketapang – Cilacap PP), KA Mutiara Timur (Ketapang – Surabaya Pasarturi PP), KA Ijen Ekspres (Ketapang – Malang PP), and KA Logawa (Ketapang – Purwokerto PP).
The discount is subject to availability within the system. KAI strongly advises the public to book tickets well in advance via the Access by KAI application to ensure freedom in selecting departure dates and preferred seating. The discounted rate does not apply to ‘go-show’ purchases and cannot be combined with other reduction rights or discount programmes.
