KAI Daop 9 Jember Commemorates National Children's Day with Robotics Competition

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 9 Jember commemorated National Children’s Day by organising the KAI RailTech Robotics Competition in collaboration with Koding Akademi – Robotics and Coding Center at the Garuda Building of KAI Daop 9 Jember. The event was attended by 20 participants ranging from kindergarten to junior secondary level, representing 10 schools—seven from Jember Regency and three from Banyuwangi Regency. Carrying the theme ‘Track the Future!’, the activity reflects KAI’s commitment to supporting the development of the younger generation through creative, innovative, and enjoyable technology-based learning. During the competition, participants programmed robots to complete various missions on a track designed to simulate a railway journey within the Daop 9 Jember area. The robots had to move precisely through points representing stations such as Jember, Banyuwangi Kota, and Ketapang. Through this simulation, the children not only learned to construct programming logic but also honed their systematic thinking, creativity, precision, and problem-solving skills. KAI stated that the National Children’s Day momentum provided the right opportunity to offer an inspiring learning space that brings children closer to the world of technology while introducing the railway as a mode of transport that continues to advance. The company hopes that such activities will cultivate curiosity, creativity, and an interest in technology and innovation, whilst also familiarising the younger generation with the railway sector through an engaging approach. KAI emphasised that technological developments in the transport sector require human resources who are adaptive, creative, and possess logical thinking skills from an early age. The company therefore continues to present educational programmes aimed at encouraging children’s interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). By using railway operations as a learning medium, children not only study robotics and coding but also understand how technology supports safer, more reliable, and modern transport services. KAI expressed hope that the experience gained would inspire children to continue learning, creating, and innovating, as they will become the future generation driving technological progress.
