KAI Daop 8 Surabaya Advises Passengers to Arrive Early to Avoid Traffic Congestion
Surabaya - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 8 Surabaya has advised all train passengers travelling on Friday (31/7) to anticipate longer travel times to stations by departing earlier. This advisory comes in response to planned demonstrations in the Surabaya area, which are likely to cause traffic congestion on several main roads.
According to received information, the protest is scheduled to begin around 1:00 PM WIB, starting at Jalan Basuki Rahmat and moving towards Jalan Teuku Umar and Polrestabes Surabaya. These activities are expected to increase vehicle volume and lead to traffic engineering measures on various routes, including Bundaran Waru, Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Wonokromo, Jalan Raya Darmo, Jalan Urip Sumoharjo, Jalan Basuki Rahmat, Jalan Embong Gayam, Jalan Panglima Sudirman, Jalan Pandegiling, and Jalan Teuku Umar.
These conditions could potentially affect travel times to several stations in the Surabaya region, particularly Surabaya Gubeng and Surabaya Pasarturi stations. Therefore, passengers are expected to plan their journeys carefully to avoid delays.
Mahendro Trang Bawono, Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, urged passengers to allow for more flexible travel time to ensure a comfortable departure process. “We advise all train passengers departing from stations in the Surabaya area to anticipate potential traffic congestion by leaving their locations earlier. With good travel planning, passengers will have sufficient time for check-in, boarding, and preparation before departure, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey,” said Mahendro.
KAI Daop 8 Surabaya suggests that passengers arrive at the station at least 30 to 60 minutes before their scheduled departure, especially for those travelling through routes expected to be affected by congestion or traffic diversions.
Passengers are also encouraged to use official information channels to monitor traffic developments and confirm train schedules, allowing them to determine alternative routes if necessary.
“All train services continue to operate according to schedule. Therefore, we invite passengers to adjust their departure times from home or their point of origin to ensure they have enough time to reach the station and avoid missing their trains due to traffic,” Mahendro added.
KAI Daop 8 Surabaya also advises motorists to follow the instructions of officers on the ground and adhere to implemented traffic diversions to maintain mobility, order, and public safety. Through these anticipatory measures, KAI Daop 8 Surabaya hopes all passengers can continue to enjoy safe, comfortable, and punctual journeys despite the potential for traffic congestion in several parts of Surabaya.
