Jombang (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 7 Madiun in East Java, together with relevant policymakers, has decided to narrow the road at a level crossing in Diwek Subdistrict, Jombang Regency.

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 7 Madiun, Tohari, explained on Thursday that this road narrowing measure is part of KAI’s efforts to ensure the safety of train operations during the 2026 Eid transportation period, amidst increasing public mobility.

“This road narrowing is carried out by installing stakes made of rails as barriers to prevent large vehicles such as articulated trucks from passing through the crossing, which does not comply with the road class regulations,” he stated in a press release received in Jombang.

According to him, this decision is to maintain the safety of all parties, including train operations and road users. Especially as Eid 2026 approaches, public activities are becoming denser.

“This is important to maintain the safety of train operations and road users, particularly during the Eid homecoming period,” Tohari said.

The implementation of this activity is the result of synergy between KAI Daop 7 Madiun and various parties, including the Jombang Regency Transportation Office, the Traffic Unit of Jombang Police Resort, and the Jombang Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUPR).

In addition to installing barrier stakes, resurfacing is also being carried out by the Jombang Regency PUPR to strengthen the stake construction and improve the condition of the previously damaged road.

His side also urged all road users to comply with the signs and applicable regulations at level crossings, and not to force passage if the vehicle does not match the road class.

As a safety reminder, KAI also invites the public to apply the ‘Berteman’ slogan, which means stop, look left-right, safe, proceed, every time they are about to cross a level crossing.

“Safety at level crossings is a shared responsibility. We hope that the entire community can enjoy a safe, smooth, and joyful homecoming journey,” said Tohari.
