Safety at level crossings is a shared responsibility. KAI, the government, and society (especially young people) must be the pioneers of traffic safety.

Kediri (ANTARA) – PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi (Daop) 7 Madiun, East Java, has partnered with millennials to educate people about safety at railway level crossings.

Tohari, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 7 Madiun, said the collaboration represents a synergistic effort between KAI and the generation of today.

‘The younger generation, Gen Z and millennials, are the driving force behind the transformation of the nation. Through the younger generation, we want to channel positive energy and the spirit of modern heroism,’ he said during the education session in Kediri on Wednesday.

He added that national revival is no longer understood as arming weapons but as rising awareness, discipline, and concern for public safety, including at level crossings.

‘National revival today is not about arming weapons but about rising awareness, discipline, and concern for public safety, including at level crossings,’ To Hari (Tohari) said.

He added that the outreach activity held to coincide with the 118th National Awakening Day in 2026 provides a space for KAI Daop 7 Madiun and the younger generation to educate road users to remain disciplined.

Tohari reminded again of the applicable legal provisions that safeguard public safety, namely Law Number 23 of 2007 on Railways, Article 124, which states that at the intersection between rail and road, road users must yield to trains.

Then Law Number 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Road Transport, Article 114, which provides that drivers must stop when the signal sounds, the gates start to close, the train has priority, and priority is given to the vehicle that first crosses the rail.

‘Safety at level crossings is a shared responsibility. KAI, the government, and society (especially the young people) must be the pioneers of road safety,’ he said.

He hopes the education and collaboration with millennials will raise public awareness to safeguard the safety of rail users and journeys.

‘The socialisation activity is expected to become the spirit of revival accompanied by a real commitment to work. KAI continues to transform to provide reliable, safe, and comfortable service for its loyal customers,’ To Hari said.

The outreach activity was conducted at level crossings (JPL) 285 and 286 in Kediri. During the event, they also carried a range of safety attributes related to rail travel.
