PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 7 Madiun, East Java, is adding rolling stock to a number of long-distance train services to accommodate the surge in passengers during the extended holiday for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 7 Madiun, Tohari, said the additional rolling stock is being provided as an effort to deliver safe and comfortable service for people travelling by train during the extended holiday period.

“To accommodate the surge in passengers during the extended holiday for the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, KAI Daop 7 Madiun is adding train carriages to several long-distance trains departing from the Daop 7 area,” Tohari said in a statement in Kediri on Friday.

He explained that the trains receiving additional carriages include KA 149 Singasari on the Blitar–Pasarsenen round-trip route, which will receive one Stainless Steel New Generation economy class carriage (K3 SSNG) on 16–18 August 2026.

Furthermore, KA 161 Bangunkarta on the Jombang–Pasarsenen round-trip route will receive one additional Stainless Steel New Generation economy class carriage on 16–18 August 2026.

Tohari said that as of Friday (14/8), the number of passengers arriving in the Daop 7 Madiun area was recorded at 7,118 people, while departing passengers reached 6,484 people.

He noted that these figures remain dynamic as they may increase until the final train arrivals and departures on Friday evening.

Overall, passenger occupancy for the period of 14–18 August 2026 was recorded at 18,004 passengers for arrivals and 19,042 passengers for departures.
