PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 6 Yogyakarta is providing full support for the transport discount programme launched by the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation by offering a 30 per cent fare reduction for passengers using commercial economy class trains. This discount programme aims to increase public mobility during the school holiday season while simultaneously driving regional economic growth across the tourism, trade, and MSME sectors.

Feni Novida Saragih, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta, stated in Yogyakarta on Friday that this initiative is part of the government’s effort to provide easier travel access for citizens visiting family or engaging in tourism activities. “KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta welcomes this policy by providing more affordable fares. These 30 per cent discounted tickets can be booked starting from 6 June 2026 for departure periods between 20 June and 5 July 2026,” said Feni.

She noted that the price reduction applies specifically to journeys using commercial economy class trains. Members of the public can book tickets through all official KAI sales channels, such as the “Access by KAI” application.

She detailed several terms and conditions for customers, including the fact that the discount does not apply to special fares. Furthermore, the discount cannot be combined with other reduction programmes or discounts, though discounted tickets can still be cancelled or rescheduled in accordance with applicable regulations. “The programme is valid as long as the allocation of discounted tickets remains available. The school holiday period is expected to serve as a positive momentum for public movement to various regions,” she added.

With more economical fares, Feni stated that KAI hopes families will be able to plan safer, more comfortable, and punctual journeys more freely. “We encourage customers to plan their trips early to secure their preferred schedules and destinations for the school holidays,” Feni concluded.
