KAI Daop 6 Begins Serving 2026 Eid Transport Motis Programme
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Regional Operations 6 Yogyakarta has begun serving the 2026 Motis free motorcycle transport programme, which is organised by the Directorate General of Railway (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.
The programme’s registration officially opened on Sunday (1 March) for the period of 1 to 29 March 2026, according to Feni Novida Saragih, Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta.
The KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta region will serve the Central Motis route from Lempuyangan to Kampung Bandan (return trip) and the Southern Motis route from Madiun to Kampung Bandan, which also stops at Purwosari and Lempuyangan stations.
Registration for Motis can be done online via nusantara.kemenhub.go.id or offline at Lempuyangan and Purwosari stations. Registration services operate from 08:00 to 17:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The departure schedules for Central Motis and Southern Motis trains for the 2026 Eid transport period are as follows: from Lempuyangan to Kampung Bandan, train KA 7707 departs at 19:30 WIB and KA 7709 at 09:20 WIB. From Purwosari to Kampung Bandan, train KA 7712 departs at 18:37 WIB and KA 7711 at 06:55 WIB.
The Motis programme is a government initiative to facilitate smooth holiday travel, reduce traffic congestion on roads, and enhance safety for motorcyclists undertaking long journeys. Through this programme, motorcycles are transported in railway carriages whilst their owners travel comfortably in safe, economy-class passenger compartments.
The programme enables passengers to retain their motorcycles in their hometowns without undertaking risky long-distance rides. Participants must meet specific registration requirements, including possessing a national identity card (KTP), family card (Kartu Keluarga), and Class C driving licence, with motorcycles limited to a maximum engine capacity of 200 cubic centimetres.
One motorcycle can accommodate the purchase of two passenger tickets and one infant ticket (for children under three years old). Registered participants must undergo verification at designated checkpoints according to scheduled verification times to avoid automatic cancellation of their registration.
Motorcycles must be handed over one day before departure and removed from the custody of the station. Participants must present their original identity card and registration proof. Parking fees at the dispatch and destination stations will be levied by official station parking operators. Helmets and mirrors cannot be left with the motorcycle, and fuel tanks must be emptied at the time of handover.
The railway booking code will be provided when motorcycles are handed over. Participants are prohibited from giving tips to Motis 2026 staff and must comply with all applicable regulations.
Feni encouraged the public to register early to avoid exceeding capacity quotas, ensuring all required documents are complete before visiting stations or registering online.
