KAI Daop 4 Semarang Supports Government's 30% Train Discount to Boost School Holiday Mobility
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 4 Semarang is supporting a transport discount programme provided by the Government through the Ministry of Transportation, offering a 30 per cent fare reduction on Commercial Economy class train journeys. The initiative is designed to boost public mobility during the school holiday season while fostering economic growth in various regions. Manager Humas Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, stated the programme forms part of a government stimulus intended to facilitate travel access during a period typically marked by increased tourism, family visits, educational trips, and economic activity. “This transport discount programme is part of the stimulus provided by the Government through the Ministry of Transportation to encourage public mobility and support economic growth. KAI Daop 4 Semarang welcomes the policy by providing more affordable fares for customers travelling during the school holidays,” said Luqman on Friday. The 30 per cent discount applies exclusively to Commercial Economy class trains. Tickets can be booked from 6 June 2026 via all official KAI sales channels for the departure period of 20 June to 5 July 2026. According to Luqman, the school holiday period is an important momentum driving movement to various regions. This mobility positively impacts the tourism sector, trade, MSMEs, and other economic activities that grow alongside increased visitor numbers. KAI’s service network, connecting major cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Purwokerto and Solo, offers a safe, comfortable, and efficient travel option. The discount programme also opens wider opportunities for families to enjoy the holiday season with more affordable transport costs. He added that the public is encouraged to plan their journeys early to secure their preferred schedules and destinations. Luqman also noted that 69 train journeys within the Daop 4 Semarang region qualify for the promotional ticket discount.
