PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 4 Semarang has recorded high public interest in using train services during the 2026 school holiday period. One factor driving this increased demand is a 30% tariff discount programme for commercial economy class trains. As of 22 June 2026, Tegal Station recorded a total of 11,508 tickets sold for departures during the school holiday period, which runs from 20 June to 5 July 2026. This figure demonstrates strong public trust in trains as a safe, comfortable, and affordable transport option. Based on provisional sales data, the highest passenger departures from Tegal Station during the school holiday period occurred on Sunday, 21 June, with 2,123 passengers. This indicates increased public mobility, with people taking advantage of the school holiday moment for tourism, visiting family, and other purposes using rail transport. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Operational Area 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, stated that the 30% discount programme received a positive response from the public, particularly for travel during the school holiday period. He noted that the programme provides an opportunity for people to travel at a more economical cost without reducing the comfort of train journeys. The discount programme is valid for departures from 20 June to 5 July 2026 and can be obtained through all official KAI sales channels, such as the Access by KAI application, the official KAI website, and other official sales partners. The commercial economy trains receiving the 30% discount at Tegal Station include KA Harina, KA Gunung Jati, KA Blambangan Ekspres, KA Brantas, KA Gumarang, KA Dharmawangsa Ekspres, KA Ciremai, KA Menoreh, KA Tawang Jaya Premium, KA Kamandaka, KA Joglosemarkerto, KA Tegal Bahari, KA Kaligung, KA Majapahit, KA Kertajaya, KA Tawang Jaya, KA Matarmaja, and KA Jayabaya.
