KAI Daop 2 Serves 13,222 Passengers During Long Holiday Period

Purwakarta (ANTARA) - PT KAI Daop 2 Bandung served 13,222 passengers during the long weekend holiday momentum, which was followed by the national holiday for the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijriah.

KAI Daop 2 Bandung Public Relations Manager Kuswardojo, in a statement received in Purwakarta, West Java, on Tuesday, said public interest in using rail transport remains quite high.

As of Tuesday afternoon, KAI Daop 2 Bandung recorded a total of 13,222 passengers using trains departing from a number of stations in the Daop 2 Bandung area.

Cumulatively, during the weekend and Islamic New Year holiday period from Friday (12/6) to Tuesday (16/6), the number of passengers using trains with initial departures from the Daop 2 Bandung area reached 77,907 passengers.

This figure exceeded the available seating capacity of 63,875 seats, resulting in an occupancy rate of 122 percent.

According to him, the high occupancy was possible due to the travel pattern of passengers boarding and alighting at various intermediate stations. Thus, one seat could be utilised by more than one passenger on different journey relations.

He said Bandung Station and Kiaracondong Station remain the centres of passenger mobility in the Daop 2 Bandung area. On Tuesday, as of midday, 4,849 passengers were recorded departing from Bandung Station and 2,359 passengers departing from Kiaracondong Station.

Meanwhile, during the period from Friday (12/6) to Tuesday (16/6), the total passengers departing from Bandung Station reached 26,804 passengers, while Kiaracondong Station served 13,827 passengers.
