KAI Daop 1 targets 8 per cent increase in Eid holiday rail passengers this year
Jakarta — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi (Daop) 1 Jakarta is targeting a volume of rail passengers during the Eid holiday period in 1447 Hijriah, or this year, to increase by 8 per cent compared to the same period last year.
Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, stated that the increase forms part of the Eid holiday transportation service target being prepared by KAI.
“We are targeting or programming that the passenger volume during this Eid holiday exodus period will be 8 per cent larger than in 2025,” said Franoto.
According to him, the increase in the number of holiday travellers is also supported by a government economic stimulus programme in the form of discounted fares for commercial economy class rail tickets.
Franoto explained that the 30 per cent ticket price reduction applies to the departure period of 14 to 29 March 2026.
“From 14 to 29 March there is a transportation discount which is an economic stimulus from the government, specifically for commercial economy class,” he said.
In the Daop 1 Jakarta region, KAI is providing 329,000 commercial economy class seats during this period. To date, approximately 67,000 seats remain available for use by the public.
“So the public can still take advantage of this discount rate,” said Franoto.
During last year’s Eid holiday period, or from 21 March to 8 April 2025, KAI transported 4,127,013 passengers.
KAI stated that public enthusiasm is very high in using rail transport following the Eid al-Fitr 2025 celebration. This high interest is reflected in the number of tickets sold, amounting to 4,522,135 tickets or equivalent to 98 per cent of the total seat capacity provided during the Eid holiday transportation period.
