KAI Daop 1 Highlights Travel Conveniences by Train During Lebaran Return Flow
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Public Relations Manager of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi (KAI Daop) 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, has highlighted several conveniences that train passengers can enjoy while travelling during the 2026 Lebaran return flow. “The public tends to choose trains during the Lebaran period due to a combination of comfort, reliability, and efficiency,” Franoto told ANTARA in Jakarta on Sunday. Franoto stated that by using trains, passengers will be free from traffic jams with assured on-time travel durations. Furthermore, train passengers can enjoy greater comfort during long-distance journeys. Passengers can sit more comfortably, walk within the train consist, easily access the toilet, and even rest more comfortably compared to other land vehicles that may be stuck in traffic for hours. The safety level of train travel is also quite high. Statistically, train journeys have a lower accident rate compared to other land modes. This provides a sense of security for travellers returning home. Additionally, train ticket prices are relatively affordable and transparent. Train fares, he said, tend to be stable and clear from the initial booking, without extreme fluctuations during peak seasons. “For example, a ticket for the Airlangga train to Pasar Senen costs Rp104,000, and an economy class ticket to Yogyakarta costs Rp175,000,” Franoto said. Ticket booking can also be done more easily. With applications like KAI Access and various online channels, the public can book tickets well in advance without queuing at the station. In addition, by using trains, passengers also have direct access to city centres, as stations are usually located in the city centre, facilitating connectivity without additional long trips. Franoto said that train passengers will have a more enjoyable travel experience compared to other modes of transportation. “Many passengers enjoy train journeys because they can view scenery along the route. This becomes an added value during the homecoming,” Franoto said. PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta recorded that the return flow of train passengers is still ongoing with high and controlled volume. According to data on Sunday, 29 March 2026 at 09:00 WIB, the number of passengers arriving in the Daop 1 Jakarta area reached 52,896, with the number expected to continue increasing. The high arrival figures, he said, indicate the continuously increasing public trust in rail transport as the primary choice for returning to Jakarta and its surroundings after the Lebaran holiday.
