KAI Confirms One Track at Bekasi Timur Station is Now Passable
KAI has confirmed that one track at Bekasi Timur Station is now passable by trains following the collision incident involving the Argo Bromo and the KRL CommuterLine. That one track can be used alternately. “The downstream track has been cleared. Earlier, colleagues may have seen that the rescue train has pulled away the KRL that was hit by the green VinFast taxi; we’ve pulled it,” said KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). “And we are conducting checks on the rails and will soon open one track towards the east. Now, one track can be passed,” Bobby continued. Observations by detikcom at 02:00 WIB showed that long-distance trains were indeed passing alternately on track 2 at Bekasi Timur Station. Although passable, the long-distance trains were travelling at below-normal speeds, i.e., slowly. Ministry of Transportation Requests KNKT Investigation The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) will involve the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) in the collision incident between the KA Argo Bromo and the KRL CommuterLine at Bekasi Timur Station. KNKT will trace the exact cause of the collision incident. “We are also giving the opportunity to KNKT to conduct an investigation, to objectively examine the cause of the accident that occurred tonight,” said Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi City, on Tuesday (28/4). On the same occasion, KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin conveyed preliminary identification results indicating that the collision incident was initiated by an event where a taxi was struck by the KRL at a crossing near Bekasi Timur Station. This is suspected to have caused a disruption at the crossing. “I need to inform that this incident, just before 21:00 WIB, started with a green taxi being struck, yes, at JPL 85. This is what we suspect caused a disruption to the railway system in the Bekasi Timur station platform area. That’s the chronology for now,” Bobby explained. On the other hand, Bobby is still awaiting in-depth results from KNKT regarding the exact cause of this collision incident. “Of course, we leave it to KNKT to find out in more detail the cause of tonight’s train accident,” he said.
