KAI Compartment Suite passenger numbers rise 79% in first four months of 2026
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded 16,315 passengers for its Compartment Suite service, a 79% increase compared to the same period in 2025 when 9,097 passengers travelled.
Vice President of Corporate Communication Anne Purba said this indicates consumers are increasingly choosing private and premium travel services. She added that holidays are evolving into experiences people want to enjoy in a calmer, higher-quality manner.
“Many consumers are opting for transport modes that allow for more relaxed, comfortable journeys with space to rest during travel,” Anne said in a statement on Thursday (28 May 2026).
This growth continues a positive trend from the previous year.
Throughout 2025, the Compartment Suite service recorded 42,118 passengers, a 47.80% increase from 28,496 in 2024.
“The travel trends of consumers are shifting,” Anne added.
She noted that train travel is increasingly popular for offering a complete travel experience. Passengers can enjoy changing scenery along the route, from rice fields and mountains to urban areas and rural landscapes as the train travels. For some, this scenery is a highlight of long-distance travel.
The Compartment Suite service offers private compartments for a more personal and exclusive travel experience. Each cabin features a modern, elegant design with electrically reclining ergonomic seats up to 140 degrees for enhanced comfort. The journey is enhanced with premium facilities including personal entertainment systems, free Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, private power outlets, ambient lighting, multifunctional foldable tables, complimentary meals and beverages, premium pillows and blankets, and professional train attendants.
