Jakarta (ANTARA) - KAI Commuter is rerouting electric rail (KRL) services on the Tanah Abang–Rangkasbitung line due to flooding on the Pondok Ranji–Kebayoran track and a disruption to the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) struck by lightning in the Jurangmangu–Pondok Ranji section.

“The water level is still too high, making it impossible for Commuter Line trains to pass,” said KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan in Jakarta on Monday.

According to him, due to disruptions from both flooding and OCS infrastructure issues, for the sake of safety and to minimise delays in Commuter Line services, KAI Commuter is implementing operational rerouting.

He stated that trains from the Rangkasbitung/Parungpanjang direction are only going as far as Serpong Station, and those from the Tanah Abang direction are terminating at Kebayoran Station.

“Combined teams from KAI Regional Operations (Daop) 1 Jakarta and KAI Commuter are continuing repairs at the site to restore Commuter Line services tonight as soon as possible,” he said.

KAI Commuter advises all users to prioritise safety and follow instructions from station staff. Updates on Commuter Line services can be accessed via the C-Access app, official social media account @commuterline, and the call centre at 121.

KAI Commuter reported operational challenges on the Rangkasbitung KRL Commuter Line (green line – Tanah Abang–Rangkasbitung route) due to sparks from an OCS pole on Monday afternoon (4/5), disrupting train operations.

As a result of the incident, several stations experienced passenger build-ups, particularly at Tanah Abang Station on Monday evening.

“For the safety of Commuter Line services and the OCS network, the OCS power supply has been temporarily shut down,” said KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday.

He added that this shutdown of the OCS network has caused Commuter Line services on the Pondokranji–Sudimara route to be temporarily impassable since 4:30 PM WIB.
