KAI Commuter Launches Rp 1 Ticket Promotion for School Holidays
PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia has prepared a special programme to welcome the school holiday season. KAI Commuter is offering a promotional ticket priced at Rp 1 per passenger for the Commuter Line Tanjung Priok route from 22 to 28 June 2026. “This special fare applies to users boarding from Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station heading to Tanjung Priok, Ancol, Kampung Bandan, and Jakarta Kota stations, and vice versa,” said Corporate Secretary KAI Commuter Karina Amanda in a written statement on Thursday, 25 June 2026. Karina explained that children aged three years or older, as well as those with a height of 90 centimetres or more, are required to purchase a ticket. Passengers are also urged not to carry luggage exceeding the stipulated dimensions of 40x30x100 centimetres and to maintain cleanliness and comfort for fellow Commuter Line users. KAI Commuter estimates that the number of electric train passengers across the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) network will increase drastically during the school holiday period from late June to early July 2026. Karina stated that the average number of passengers on weekends or holidays during June was 736,203 people. “The highest number of passengers was on Saturday, 6 June, reaching 845,292 people,” she said. Based on KAI data, Karina added that the number of passengers on weekdays in June has already reached 1,030,610 people. To anticipate overcrowding, KAI Commuter is operating 1,065 Commuter Line Jabodetabek trips daily from 04:00 to 24:00 WIB. The highest passenger volumes are focused during peak hours, specifically between 05:00 and 07:30 WIB and between 15:00 and 18:00 WIB. KAI Commuter management is urging passengers planning to travel for the holidays to take note of the anticipated peak hours. “Passengers who will use the Commuter Line to enjoy the holidays with their children should pay attention to their departure times by using the Commuter Line outside of these peak hours,” Karina said.
