JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — KAI Commuter has confirmed that the incident of a KRL train striking a taxi at the Tambun crossing in Bekasi is different from the collision between a KRL train and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday night (27/4/2026).

Both events occurred close in time on the same track but involved different train consists.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, stated that there were two separate incidents on the Cikarang KRL line.

“And the one at Bekasi Timur Station is an operational incident between a different KRL and the long-distance train,” she said.

However, both incidents took place on the same track, namely the Blue Line heading to Cikarang.

Karina explained that the KRL struck by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train departed from Kampung Bandan to Cikarang, while the Argo Bromo Anggrek train that hit the KRL consist departed from Gambir Station.

On the other hand, the KRL that hit the taxi was travelling from Tambun Station to Cikarang.

“So they were all heading in the same direction,” Karina emphasised.

She also informed that the position of the KRL that hit the taxi was ahead of the KRL consist that was subsequently struck by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train. The handling of the KRL-taxi incident was carried out first.

“That was ahead of it,” Karina stated.

When asked whether the KRL-taxi incident affected the train journey condition, leading to the rear KRL being struck by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train, Karina said that the company could not yet conclude.

An investigation by the relevant parties is currently ongoing in the field, including by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).

“Whether there is a correlation between the taxi incident and the one at Bekasi Timur, that is still under investigation,” Karina explained.
