KAI Commuter: JIS Station to Operate in June 2026
KAI Commuter estimates that the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station will begin operations in June 2026. KAI Vice President of Communications, Anne Purba, stated that construction progress is on target, with completion scheduled for May 2026.
“KAI Commuter and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continue to collaborate to ensure that the development of JIS Station addresses the need for better intermodal integration in Jakarta,” she said in a written statement on Saturday, 11 April 2026.
This station will provide direct access to JIS as well as to residential areas. Its location adjacent to the stadium is expected to offer an effective solution in reducing traffic density burdens.
Anne stated that JIS will strengthen Commuter Line services along the Tanjung Priok route, with a trend of year-on-year passenger growth. In 2022, there were 1,599,107 passengers, in 2023 there were 2,676,363 passengers, in 2024 there were 3,377,633 passengers, and in 2025 there were 3,531,311 passengers. Meanwhile, from January to March 2026, the passenger volume reached 873,658 people.
“This significant growth in KRL service users demonstrates that train services are increasingly becoming the primary choice,” she said.
These operations are supported by KAI along with the Directorate General of Railways from the Ministry of Transportation. From Jakarta Kota to Tanjung Priok, there is a double-track line spanning 8.11 kilometres to support services on the northern route.
Anne explained that KAI Commuter focuses on public transportation services that can provide broad benefits. JIS Station is expected to further support various activities taking place around it, as well as near the stadium and residential areas.
“We project that the contribution of railways to the smooth mobility of residents will be even greater,” she added.
Previously, the station had not yet been completed even though the JIS Stadium had been finished. The presence of the station aims to reduce density centred at the stadium during major events, whether matches or concerts.
