KAI Commuter Increases Services and Prepares 50 Million Passenger Capacity for 2026 Eid Holiday Travel
JAKARTA — Ahead of the 2026 Eid holiday travel season, Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Commuter is preparing passenger transport capacity of 50 million travellers.
This KAI Commuter capacity targets in-city travellers, particularly in the Jabodetabek area, Merak, and surrounding regions, including journeys to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
“KAI Commuter is providing transport capacity of 50.25 million passengers, which is four per cent higher than the previous year’s capacity,” said KAI Commuter Vice President of Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda in an official statement on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
The Commuter Line Jabodetabek service consists of 1,065 journeys daily with total transport capacity reaching 47.1 million, with predictions that 18.9 million passengers will use the Jabodetabek Commuter Line.
“This figure increases by one per cent from user achievement during the previous year’s Eid holiday transport,” said Karina.
Seventy Commuter Line Basoetta journeys are available with total transport capacity of 415,616, with 145,963 passengers projected to travel to the airport for the holiday.
Additionally, 14 Commuter Line Merak journeys per day with transport capacity of 412,352 and user volume on this route predicted to reach 299,259 passengers during the 2026 Eid holiday, or an increase of one per cent from last year.
A total of 5,400 frontline personnel, including train drivers, security officers, and health workers, have been prepared to ensure passenger comfort during the 2026 Eid holiday.
KAI Commuter is also adding support facilities, such as portable toilets at Bogor and Pasar Minggu stations, and waiting tents at Bekasi, Bogor, Tangerang, Rangkasbitung, and Cilegon stations.
Passengers heading to Merak Station will be transferred using onward transport at Cilegon Station.
This service adjustment has also been implemented in previous years to manage vehicle traffic that will cross through the Merak-Bakauheni Ferry Terminal, particularly during peak Eid holiday transport periods.
Currently, Commuter Line stations are integrated with various transport modes including the MRT, LRT Jabodebek, TransJakarta buses, and ride-hailing services.
Passengers can also utilise the Multi-Trip Card (KMT) for payment transactions across all these transport modes.
“KAI Commuter urges all passengers to always follow regulations during their journeys, supervise and monitor children, follow staff instructions, and remain vigilant for everyone’s safety,” Karina concluded.
