KAI Commuter celebrates 81st Indonesian Independence Day with KRL pulling competition
KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI) joined in the celebrations for the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s independence. One of the competitions held was an electric rail train (KRL) pulling contest.
“This is part of KAI Commuter’s internal series of competitions. To enliven the 81st Independence Day celebrations, we organised several competitions for employees, one of which was the KRL pulling contest located in the Depok KRL Depot area,” said KAI Commuter VP Corporate Secretary, Karina Amanda, on Wednesday (19/8/2026).
She said the spirit of commemorating the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence was a momentum for all KAI Commuter personnel. In this year’s commemoration, KAI Commuter held typical 17 August competitions.
However, she added, the competitions were also combined with activities that have educational value directly related to improving collaboration and railway travel safety. Karina said this contest was to strengthen the togetherness of KCI employees.
“One of them was the KRL pulling contest at the Depok KRL Depot on Tuesday (18/8), which involved teamwork and cooperation among employees. The activity served as a means to build togetherness while strengthening relationships among employees within KAI Commuter,” she said.
The activities in the Independence Day commemoration also served as a momentum to foster a spirit of togetherness and teamwork across all teams. It is hoped that the spirit of the 81st Independence Day can be carried forward into daily work.
“The spirit of cooperation, perseverance, mutual assistance, and discipline are important assets for KAI Commuter personnel to face various operational challenges and continue to improve service quality for all users,” said Karina.
