KAI Commuter Blacklists Alleged Tangerang Selatan Lecturer Over Sexual Harassment on KRL Train
A man suspected to be a lecturer at a campus in Tangerang Selatan has been blacklisted by KAI Commuter following allegations of sexual harassment against a female passenger on the Jakarta Kota–Nambo Commuter Line service.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 14 March 2026, at approximately 21:01 Western Indonesian Time as the train passed near Universitas Pancasila Station heading towards Universitas Indonesia Station.
Leza Arlan, Manager of Public Relations for KAI Commuter, stated that KAI Commuter has added the suspected perpetrator’s facial image to its CCTV analytics database to enable detection by surveillance systems at stations and within Commuter Line trains.
Based on investigations, the victim boarded at Tebet Station, whilst the suspected perpetrator boarded at Tanjung Barat Station. Both were aboard Commuter Line train number 1530 on the Jakarta Kota–Nambo route.
The suspected perpetrator was subsequently removed at Universitas Indonesia Station by on-train personnel following reports and assistance from other passengers.
KAI Commuter has also provided psychological counselling to the victim and accompanied the reporting process to Metro Depok Police to ensure legal proceedings.
KAI Commuter also called upon all users to remain vigilant about their surroundings when using the KRL, to speak up, and to report all forms of sexual violence.
Meanwhile, Brigadier First Class Made Budi, Head of the Public Relations Section at Metro Depok Police, confirmed the existence of the sexual harassment allegation report. “There is (a report), but it has been resolved,” said Made on Sunday.
