KAI Commuter Adds Four More Train Schedules on the Yogyakarta-Palur Route

KAI Commuter Area 6 Yogyakarta is adding four more train journeys on the Yogyakarta-Palur route during the extended holiday for the Ascension of Jesus Christ.

“This extended holiday period is receiving special attention from the management of the Commuter Line public transport service,” said VP of Corporate Secretary at KAI Commuter, Karina Amanda, in a written statement on Thursday, 14th May 2026.

As a result, there will be a total of 31 train journeys on the Yogyakarta-Palur route available each day during the period of 14th-17th May 2026. In addition to adding more schedules, KAI Commuter will continue to operate 10 Prameks train journeys during this extended holiday period.

The additional train schedules, according to Karina, are being implemented due to an increase in the number of passengers using the KAI Commuter Area 6 Yogyakarta service during the extended holiday period.

She cited the previous extended holiday for Labour Day as an example, during which the average daily passenger volume on the Yogyakarta-Palur train route was 34,000 people. This represents a 6 per cent increase compared to a normal weekend.

During this extended holiday period, KAI Commuter will operate 15 journeys from Palur Station to Yogyakarta Station, starting from 05:00 WIB to 20:42 WIB.

In addition, there will be 16 journeys from Yogyakarta Station to Palur Station, starting from 05:05 WIB to 22:35 WIB.

For the Prameks train, journeys are available from 06:40 WIB to 18:05 WIB for departures from Yogyakarta to Kutoarjo, and from 05:10 WIB to 18:45 WIB for departures from Kutoarjo to Yogyakarta.

Data from KAI Commuter shows that Yogyakarta Station, which is located in the Malioboro tourist area, consistently records the highest passenger volume, reaching 9,000-10,000 passengers each day.

Meanwhile, Lempuyangan Station, which is located not far from the tourist area, records approximately 4,000-5,000 passengers per day.

KAI Commuter advises passengers to avoid congestion at Yogyakarta Station by choosing Lempuyangan Station as an alternative departure station for trips to Klaten, Solo, or Palur.

While using the Commuter Line, passengers are advised to maintain a comfortable environment by not sitting on the floor, keeping the area clean, and supervising children closely.

KAI Commuter also asks passengers to pay attention to the train schedules. The complete schedule can be accessed through the C-Access application or the website www.kci.id.
