KAI Cirebon states surge in passengers boosts regional tourism
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 3 Cirebon, West Java, has stated that the surge in passenger numbers during the long holiday period from late May to early June 2026 has contributed to the regional tourism sector in Cirebon and its surroundings.
“The high mobility of the public using trains during the long holiday period has had a positive impact on tourist visits to the area,” said Muhibbuddin, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 3 Cirebon, in Cirebon on Tuesday.
He noted that between 26 May and 1 June 202scale, the company served 96,470 passengers, consisting of 49,627 departing passengers and 46,843 arriving passengers across various stations. Data shows that the peak of passenger arrivals occurred on 26 May 2026, with arrival numbers reaching 10,708 people.
Muhibbuddin stated that the public’s enthusiasm for using trains during the long holiday is positive news for the tourism sector, as many passengers utilise the opportunity to engage in culinary, historical, and religious tourism in Cirebon. He added that passengers arriving in the Cirebon area during this period originated from several major cities, including Jakarta, Bandung, and Semarang.
“The high number of passenger arrivals is directly proportional to the increase in tourism activities in Cirebon City and the surrounding areas,” he said. “The public chooses trains because they offer travel time certainty, comfort, and are free from traffic congestion, allowing holiday time to be used more effectively.”
During the long holiday period, the company also optimised digital facilities, such as e-boarding passes and face recognition services, to ensure the boarding process at stations was faster and more efficient. “To anticipate high customer mobility, we ensured that train operations ran safely, smoothly, and on time throughout the long holiday period,” he added.
