KAI Cirebon Secures 438 Passenger Items Left Behind Worth Rp447 Million, from Gold to Gadgets
PT KAI Daop 3 Cirebon’s commitment to safeguarding passengers’ belongings has been demonstrated through its Lost and Found service. Throughout the period from January to 20 June 2026, the service post successfully secured 438 items left behind in station areas or inside train carriages. KAI Daop 3 Cirebon Public Relations Manager Muhibbuddin stated that the estimated total value of the hundreds of items left behind reached Rp477,514,000. According to him, all of the items have been returned to their owners in intact condition. He emphasised that this success was underpinned by the high integrity of field officers and a modern data recording system. ‘It is not just about rapid response; our officers are required to have high integrity. Thanks to their alertness, passengers’ valuable belongings could be saved,’ Muhibbuddin said on Sunday (21/6/2026). The types of items frequently left behind were dominated by electronic goods and valuable assets, including laptops, tablets, mobile phones, smartwatches, Nintendo Switch consoles, suitcases, wallets, important documents, cash, and even gold. Muhibbuddin explained that train service users who have lost items, whether inside the train or around the station environment, can report the lost item to the conductor on duty on the train. Additionally, reports can be made to the Railway Special Police (Polsuska) security officers on duty at the station, as well as through the KAI 121 Contact Centre. After a passenger reports a lost item, KAI will then conduct a search for the item. If the item can be found immediately, it will be returned directly to the person who reported it. ‘And if the item cannot be found yet, a confirmation will be made by telephone to the reporter regarding the progress of handling the lost item,’ he clarified.
