KAI Cirebon Passenger Numbers Rise in First Half of 2026
PT KAI (Persero) Daop 3 Cirebon recorded an increase in passenger numbers during the first half of 2026. The region served 2,138,947 customers from January to June, a 5.43 percent rise compared to the 2,028,698 passengers served in the same period in 2025. Of the total, 1,076,822 were departing passengers and 1,062,125 were arriving passengers at various stations in the Daop 3 Cirebon area.
Manager of Public Relations for Daop 3 Cirebon, Muhibbuddin, stated on Saturday that the increase was driven by routine activities such as work, education, and business travel, as well as high public mobility during national holidays, including the Eid transport period, the Christmas and New Year holidays, and school holidays at the end of the first semester.
The five stations with the highest passenger volumes during the first half of 2026 were Cirebon Station with 889,443 passengers, Cirebonprujakan Station with 352,073 passengers, Jatibarang Station with 285,836 passengers, Haurgeulis Station with 148,020 passengers, and Brebes Station with 213,840 passengers. Muhibbuddin noted that these five stations serve as centres of public mobility within the Daop 3 Cirebon operational area, serving various travel destinations.
He added that the increase in passenger numbers in the first half of 2026 demonstrates growing public trust in rail transport services. The rising number of customers indicates that trains have become the public’s primary choice for travel, representing a highly valuable form of trust for KAI. The company is committed to maintaining this trust by improving services across various aspects, from travel safety, punctuality, comfort, and cleanliness to security and the ease of digital-based services.
Muhibbuddin further stated that the increase in train passengers is believed to have a positive impact on economic growth in areas along the railway line, particularly around stations. High public mobility helps drive the development of trade, culinary businesses, hospitality, tourism, onward transport, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that utilise station areas as centres of economic activity. The presence of rail services also contributes to improving inter-regional connectivity, facilitating public mobility and the distribution of economic activity. With easier transport access, various business sectors benefit from the increased flow of public travel. KAI hopes that more people will choose trains as their primary mode of transport in the future, as mass transportation offers safe, comfortable, and punctual travel while supporting efforts to create a more efficient, environmentally friendly transport system and boosting regional economic growth.
