Cirebon (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operational Region (Daop) 3 Cirebon, West Java, has confirmed that all locomotives and operational generators in its area are now using B40 biodiesel fuel. The Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 3 Cirebon, Muhibbuddin, confirmed in Cirebon on Friday that the implementation of B40 biodiesel is being carried out comprehensively as part of the company’s energy transition programme. According to him, this policy follows up on the government’s programme to promote the use of new renewable energy in various sectors, including rail transport. “All facilities in Daop 3 Cirebon, both locomotives and generators, are now using more environmentally friendly fuel,” he said. The use of biodiesel, he continued, is considered capable of reducing greenhouse gas emissions while keeping the performance of rail operations optimal. “We continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to ensure the implementation of biodiesel use proceeds according to regulations,” he stated. He emphasised that the use of B40 biodiesel is guaranteed not to disrupt the reliability of rail operations in the Daop 3 Cirebon region. Muhibbuddin conveyed that the implementation of B40 biodiesel is an initial stage towards the use of B50 biodiesel, which is currently in the national trial phase. He stated that these efforts align with the government’s programme for energy resilience and sustainable development. “B50 biodiesel is known to have a higher vegetable content, reaching 50 percent, thus potentially providing a greater environmental impact,” he said.
