KAI CEO: Gambir Station to be Revitalised as 'Terrace' of Monas

We will make Gambir an ‘in journey experience’. Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) CEO Bobby Rasyidin has stated that Gambir Station will be revitalised to become the terrace of the National Monument (Monas), providing a travel experience for service users and the public. “We will make Gambir Station the terrace of the stage known as Monas,” Bobby said during a discussion with journalists aboard a tourist train in Brebes, Central Java, on Wednesday. Bobby explained that the revitalisation of Gambir Station in Jakarta is not only intended to make it easier for the public to use public train transport. He said the revitalisation is also KAI’s effort to present an ‘in journey experience’ for train service users. He explained that the concept being promoted combines various characteristics of the Nusantara’s nature, such as waterfalls, terraced rice fields, and mountain scenery. All of this, Bobby said, is being done to show that Indonesia has a stage called Monas, and from Gambir Station, this stage can be viewed properly. “Monas is Indonesia’s stage. Where is the terrace? There isn’t one yet. There is no place to sit and gaze at Monas right now. Therefore, we will make Gambir an ‘in journey experience’. Customers who come will not only ride the train, they will enjoy Monas,” he said. He stated that Gambir Station will eventually face Monas, and when train users arrive at the station, they will be able to enjoy a better view of the Monas environment. “Service users will also enjoy the surroundings of Monas. They will enjoy the new Gambir Station,” he said. He added that the new face of Gambir Station will be made as attractive as possible so that the public and train service users have an ‘in journey experience’. Bobby said that to realise Gambir Station as the terrace of Monas, KAI has budgeted approximately Rp1 trillion, with the work targeted for completion by 2028.
