KAI Cancels KA Siliwangi Journey Due to Track Subsidence
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daerah Operasi II Bandung has cancelled the KA Siliwangi train journey due to subsidence or erosion of soil beneath the tracks on the railway line between Cibeber and Lampegan stations. “Safety is non-negotiable. Therefore, the track on the Cibeber-Lampegan section has been declared temporarily impassable until repairs are completed,” said Manager of Public Relations for PT KAI Daerah Operasi II Bandung, Kuswardojo, in a statement quoted on Sunday, 19 April 2026. Initial information about the subsidence was received by KAI personnel on Sunday, 19 April 2026, at 19:55 WIB, on the railway track at Km 74+9/0 in the Cibeber-Lampegan section. Personnel found that the track structure was compromised due to the erosion, which was deemed hazardous for train operations. PT KAI Daerah Operasi II Bandung deployed an emergency response team to the site for further inspection. The inspection results declared the track unsafe for train passage. Consequently, PT KAI Daerah Operasi II Bandung decided to cancel the KA Siliwangi (345) service from Cipatat to Sukabumi, with the train only reaching Cianjur station. The scheduled departure of KA Siliwangi on Monday, 20 April 2026, at 05:15 WIB has also been cancelled. “We understand that this cancellation causes inconvenience to our passengers,” said Kuswardojo. As compensation, affected passengers can cancel their tickets for a 100 percent refund of the ticket price, excluding booking fees. Ticket cancellations can be processed through the Access by KAI application or directly at station counters within a maximum period of 7x24 hours. Kuswardojo stated that PT KAI Daerah Operasi II Bandung is endeavouring to accelerate track repairs so that train services can return to normal. “We are doing our utmost to handle the situation on the ground so that the track can be restored quickly and train operations can run smoothly. We also thank our passengers for their understanding and patience,” he said.
