KAI Breaks Silence on Collision Between KA Argo Bromo Anggrek and KRL in East Bekasi
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - An incident involving a collision occurred between a long-distance Kereta Api (KAI) train and a KRL Commuter Line train at Bekasi Timur Station today, Monday (27/4/2026). PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daerah Operasi 1 Jakarta stated that the disruption happened at 20:52 WIB. The disruption was due to the PLB 5568A (CL KPB-CKR) being stuck to the PLB 4B (KA Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi route) at the incident site, impacting rail operations on that line. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, conveyed KAI’s apologies to customers for the inconvenience caused. “Currently, PT KAI, together with the police, is conducting the evacuation process for the train consist and handling victims at the scene. We are striving as much as possible to restore rail operations to normal as soon as possible,” Franoto said in a statement received by CNBC Indonesia. The number of casualties in the incident has not yet been disclosed. Based on videos circulating on social media, personnel at the site are still attempting to evacuate passengers inside the train. KAI assured that field personnel have acted swiftly to handle and secure the location, and are coordinating with relevant parties to expedite the evacuation and recovery of services. As a safety measure, the overhead power supply (LAA) on the Cibitung-Bekasi Timur line and the Bekasi Timur platform has been temporarily deactivated. The cause of the incident and the number of affected KA services are still under investigation and further data collection. Information will be updated periodically.
