KAI Boss on Railway Crossings Controlled by Thugs: They Don't Meet Closure Criteria!
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero)’s President Director Bobby Rasyidin has been assigned by President Prabowo Subianto to identify 1,800 railway crossings throughout Indonesia. Bobby will survey them and carry out upgrades to facilities and infrastructure if necessary for safety reasons.
“In line with the President’s directive, we are immediately taking action to address these crossings, both official and unregistered ones without equipment or guards; we will make improvements,” he said at Bekasi Timur Station, Jakarta, on Wednesday (29/4/2026).
Meanwhile, for illegal crossings, if they are assessed not to meet safety standards, they will be closed.
“We will take action on illegal crossings. As long as they do not meet safety aspects and endanger lives, we will close them,” he stressed.
He also firmly stated that he will not hesitate when dealing with community organisations during the closure process of illegal railway crossings. Legal channels will be pursued if necessary.
“As long as community organisations do not meet the requirements to ensure safety, we must close them. Whether closing through legal channels, we will pursue that,” he concluded.
