KAI: Bekasi-Cikarang KRL Line Resumes Normal Operations to Serve Passengers
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has stated that the KRL line between Bekasi and Cikarang has resumed normal operations to serve passengers, following the reopening of Bekasi Timur Station after recovery processes from the incident on Monday (27/4) night.
KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, said the reopening of the station and line followed operational trial results that proceeded smoothly.
“After various stages of these trials, KRL services on the Bekasi-Cikarang line have resumed operations from 14:00 WIB,” Anne said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
KAI ensured that all stages of service recovery were carried out gradually, measurably, and with a principle of caution.
KAI emphasised that safety aspects are the top priority in every handling and operational recovery process. All processes have undergone thorough inspections to ensure the safety and security of train travel as well as the comfort of service users.
“KAI is committed to always prioritising safety in every operation. The reopening of services at Bekasi Timur Station was carried out after ensuring all safety aspects are met,” she stated.
With the resumption of operations at Bekasi Timur Station and the normalisation of KRL services on the Bekasi-Cikarang line, it is hoped that public mobility can run smoothly again, especially for KRL users in the Bekasi, Cikarang, and surrounding areas.
KAI also expressed thanks for the patience and understanding of customers during the handling and recovery process.
Previously, a collision incident between a Commuter Line train and a long-distance train occurred at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) night. As a result of the tragic event, KAI stated that 107 people were victims, consisting of 16 deaths and 91 injuries.
Of the 91 injured, 43 passengers have been allowed to go home, while the rest are still undergoing treatment in hospital.
KAI ensured that all injured victims receive optimal care with medical support to accelerate recovery after the incident on that rail line.
KAI also conveyed deep condolences to the families of the victims and strives to maintain communication so that information related to victim handling can be received clearly and transparently.
In addition, KAI ensured that all costs for treatment up to the funerals of the deceased victims in the incident are fully covered.
