KAI Applauds West Java Governor's Full Attention to Assault on Railway Crossing Guard
Bandung (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Bandung Operational Region 2 has expressed appreciation for the full attention given by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi to the mob assault case involving the crossing keeper at level crossing 227 in Leuwigoong, Garut Regency, who fell victim to violence whilst securing the track for the Serayu train’s journey.
KAI Bandung Operational Region 2 responded to the direct attention from West Java’s number one official as moral support and a boost of spirit for its frontline personnel.
“We extend our highest thanks and appreciation to the West Java Governor and the entire West Java Provincial Government apparatus for the full attention given to the mob assault suffered by our crossing officer in Leuwigoong,” said Kuswardojo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Bandung Operational Region 2, in Bandung on Wednesday.
Kuswardojo revealed that the active involvement of the West Java Provincial Government demonstrated a strong commitment to protecting public transport workers carrying out their duties for the state in the interest of public safety at the level crossing at KM 210+8 on the Karangsari-Cibatu track section.
“We fully support the work of the Leuwigoong Sector Police and Garut Police Resort in making arrests and pursuing legal proceedings against the perpetrators. We hope law enforcement proceeds well so that justice is served for our officer and it acts as a deterrent so that similar incidents do not happen again,” said Kuswardojo.
KAI Bandung Operational Region 2 hopes this violent incident becomes a moment of evaluation and a hard lesson for the public to respect the law and value the dedication of railway level crossing keepers.
“Respect officers who are carrying out their duties, obey all rules at level crossings, and always give way to trains. The safety of railway journeys is not only the responsibility of KAI or its officers, but our shared responsibility. The public and local government must also play their part,” he added.
