PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and the Bogor City Government are preparing to redevelop the Bogor Station area as an integrated transport hub to improve comfort and increase mass transit service capacity.

KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin said in Bogor on Thursday that the redevelopment is part of the Bogor Station revitalisation plan being discussed with the local government. “In particular, we will revitalise Bogor Station. Later, Bogor Station will be more comfortable, able to accommodate more passengers, and more beautiful,” Bobby said.

He explained that the Bogor Station redevelopment will cover several aspects of passenger services, including the arrangement of passenger drop-off and pick-up areas, public transport or feeder stops, and shuttle routes.

According to Bobby, the development is expected to make Bogor more iconic in providing mass transit facilities in the future.

The railway service development discussion was held by KAI and the Bogor City Government at Bogor City Hall on Thursday. In addition to the Bogor Station revitalisation, both parties discussed integrating the station area with the adjacent Bogor City Square.

“The main focus is the redevelopment of the Bogor Station–City Square area and the activation plan from Bogor to Cigombong,” said Dedie.

The Bogor City Government will support the provision of facilities and infrastructure to anticipate the railway service development. The city government and KAI will also soon prepare a memorandum of understanding as the basis for collaboration on the redevelopment of the Bogor Station and Bogor City Square areas.

“God willing, we will arrange it better, more iconic, a pride of Bogor City and Indonesia for a more comfortable transport future,” Dedie said.

In addition to the Bogor Station redevelopment, the meeting discussed several rail-based transport development plans, including railway service facilities in Sukaresmi Urban Village, LRT, trams, activation of Ciomas Rancamaya Station along with road access opening, and extension of the commuter line route to Cigombong.
