KAI Adds Train Carriages, Expands Travel Options for Customers
The capacity increase applies to a number of train services on 7 September 2026.
Jakarta (ANTARA) — PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has added carriages to a number of train services on 7 September 2026. This capacity adjustment is intended to provide customers with more varied travel options in line with public mobility needs.
The additional carriages cover executive to economy class services, supported by Stainless Steel New Generation and New Image rolling stock. KAI continues to evaluate customers’ travel needs as well as operational readiness in order to deliver safe, comfortable and reliable train services.
Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, Anne Purba, said the additional carriages are part of KAI’s service adjustments to provide travel capacity in accordance with public needs.
“KAI continues to monitor customers’ travel needs and adjust service capacity based on operational conditions in the field. These additional carriages offer wider travel options supported by increasingly comfortable rolling stock,” said Anne.
The train services receiving additional carriages on 7 September 2026 are:
- KA 2B Anggrek, Gambir–Surabaya Pasarturi route
The service will be expanded to 9 executive carriages using Executive Stainless Steel New Generation rolling stock.
KA 204 Tegal Bahari, Pasarsenen–Tegal route
KA 203 Tegal Bahari, Tegal–Pasarsenen route
KA 164A Gumarang, Pasarsenen–Surabaya Pasarturi route
Capacity will be increased to 4 executive and 7 economy carriages using Executive and Economy Stainless Steel New Generation rolling stock.
KA 117B Gunung Jati, Cirebon–Gambir route
KA 118B Gunung Jati, Gambir–Semarang Tawang route
KA 119B Gunung Jati, Semarang Tawang–Gambir route
KA 120B Gunung Jati, Gambir–Cirebon route
Capacity will be increased to 5 executive and 5 economy carriages using Executive and Economy New Image rolling stock.
Anne explained that KAI continues to ensure service readiness through the management of rolling stock, infrastructure and train operations so that customers can travel comfortably and safely.
“KAI urges customers to prepare well for their journeys, from checking departure schedules and ticket availability to following the latest information through Access by KAI, the official KAI website and other official information channels,” said Anne.
Given the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, KAI also urged customers to look after their health during travel, including wearing masks where necessary, particularly for customers sensitive to volcanic ash exposure or air quality in affected areas.
“KAI invites customers to arrive at the station early, follow officers’ instructions and check travel information before departure so that journeys run safely and comfortably,” Anne concluded.
