KAI Adds LRT Sumsel Trips for Palembang's 1,343rd Anniversary
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Divisi Regional III Palembang, together with the South Sumatra Light Rail Management Agency (BPKARSS), has added operational services for the South Sumatra LRT to support the 1,343rd anniversary celebrations of Palembang City. The service enhancement runs from 25 to 28 June 2026. KAI Divre III Palembang Public Relations Manager Aida Suryanti stated that the additional trips aim to accommodate increased public mobility during the series of anniversary events. On 25 to 27 June, LRT services will be extended until 11.58 p.m. WIB, with daily trips increased from 94 to 98. On Sunday, 28 June, the number of trips will be further increased to 102, with eight additional trips on the DJKA Station–Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport route. The last departure from DJKA Station to the airport will be at 10.34 p.m. WIB, while the final trip in the opposite direction will depart from Asrama Haji Station at 11.20 p.m. WIB. KAI hopes the public will use the LRT as their primary transport option during the celebrations, noting that the electric rail-based system is more environmentally friendly than private vehicles and supports the national movement to return to public transport.
