Semarang (ANTARA) - PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang is operating an additional train service on the Semarang-Jakarta route as a precautionary measure against a surge in passengers following the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau in the Sunda Strait.

Luqman Arif, Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang, stated in Semarang on Sunday that the operation of the additional train is an anticipatory step in case there is an increased demand for travel to Jakarta.

He explained that the additional train consists of five executive carriages, four economy carriages, and a dining car, providing a total capacity of 570 seats.

“The departure schedule for the train from Semarang Tawang Station is 20:15 WIB,” he said.

In addition to the extra train, he noted that KAI has also added carriages to the Gumarang train service bound for Jakarta.

According to him, there are two additional economy class carriages added to the Gumarang train, each with a capacity of 72 seats.

He stated that the operation of these additional services demonstrates KAI’s readiness to respond to changes in public travel dynamics, particularly towards Jakarta.

He ensured that PT KAI continues to monitor the developing situation and the public’s travel needs.

He expressed hope that this increased capacity would provide more travel options and support public mobility towards Jakarta.
