PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI, has reactivated operations at Plabuan Station in Batang Regency and Comal Station in Pemalang Regency, Central Java, to serve passenger stops for both boarding and alighting.

Luqman Arif, Public Relations Manager of KAI Regional Operations 4 Semarang, stated that the activation of these two stations along the North Coast of Central Java is a strategic step by KAI to bring services closer to the public.

“Before being operated, thorough inspections were conducted to ensure compliance with minimum service standards,” he said in Semarang, Central Java, on Sunday, 19 April 2026.

At the initial stage, he said, the two stations set to operate from 27 April 2026 will serve passengers of the KA Kaligung, KA Kamandaka, and KA Joglosemarkerto trains.

Luqman added that the public will be able to travel more easily to various cities, such as Semarang, Tegal, Cirebon, Purwokerto, Yogyakarta, and Solo, through the activation of these two stations.

According to him, KAI will continue to conduct periodic evaluations of occupancy rates and public interest as a basis for future service development.

In addition, he said, KAI is also increasing the number of trains stopping at Batang Station. The trains that will serve passenger boarding and alighting at Batang Station are KA Argo Muria, KA Tawangjaya, KA Menoreh, KA Kamandaka, KA Joglosemarkerto, and KA Kaligung.

“If public interest is high, KAI will consider adding services or other travel routes,” Luqman said.
