KAI Absorbs 54.9 Million Litres of Subsidised Fuel, Supporting National Transportation and Logistics
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded an absorption of subsidised fuel oil (BBM) amounting to 54,911,065 litres throughout the first quarter of 2026. This absorption forms part of efforts to maintain the continuity of public transportation services while ensuring the smooth distribution of goods across various regions.
KAI’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated that the use of subsidised BBM is carried out in a measured and accountable manner as a form of transparency to the government and the public.
“We ensure that the absorption of subsidised BBM is carried out according to its intended purpose, based on the principles of Good Corporate Governance. Every process is conducted openly, accountably, and we continue to maintain its consistency,” said Anne in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
Based on the Decision of the Head of the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Body (BPH Migas) Number 99/P3JBT.KOM/BPH.DBBM/2025, the total quota of subsidised BBM allocated to KAI for 2026 reaches 214,342,000 litres. Of this amount, the majority is allocated for passenger train operations at 191,022,000 litres, while the remainder is used for freight transport such as containers, parcels, cement, and clinker.
Anne explained that the absorption of subsidised BBM is present in every journey and distribution carried out by KAI. Cement transport plays a role in strengthening infrastructure development, while clinker, as the main raw material for cement, is delivered to maintain the continuity of its production process.
“From this, the development of housing, public facilities, and basic infrastructure can continue to progress,” Anne added.
