Kaesang Urges Cadres in Southwest Papua to Strengthen Structures Down to the Grassroots
All PSI (Indonesian Solidarity Party) cadres in Southwest Papua have been urged to finalise the establishment of organisational structures down to the grassroots level. This was stated by the Chairman of the PSI’s Central Executive Board, Kaesang Pangarep. He considers it essential as part of preparations to face the 2029 elections. The statement was delivered by Kaesang while attending the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorwil) and the inauguration of the Southwest Papua Provincial Board of PSI, held in Sorong on Tuesday, 5 May 2026. “Completing the structure down to the lowest level is one of the important factors in strengthening the party’s readiness to face the elections,” Kaesang said. In addition, he reminded cadres to prepare for the increasingly competitive political dynamics ahead. One of the stages that needs to be prepared, he said, is the party verification process scheduled for next year. “We certainly don’t want what happened in the 2024 elections to repeat in 2029. So I also apologise if we from the Central Board are always demanding more, always getting angry, always grumbling at friends in the provincial and district boards,” he said. The Rakorwil event was also attended by several PSI Central Board officials as well as local party leaders, as part of organisational consolidation efforts.
