Kaesang to Announce Jokowi's PSI Party Role

Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarepo will personally announce the position of Joko Widodo within the party. The information was conveyed by PSI Central Executive Board (DPP) Political Division Head Bestari Barus when asked about preparations for Jokowi’s nationwide tour starting 26 June 2026. Lampung will be the first stop of Jokowi’s tour. “Jokowi is already in PSI, it’s just a matter of finding the right time for Mas Kaesang to announce what his role will be upon joining,” Bestari said on Tuesday, 23 June 2026. Bestari has not disclosed when the PSI Chairman will announce his father’s position in the party. However, he stated that he and Kaesang will also travel to Lampung on 25 June. Bestari could not confirm whether the official announcement of Jokowi joining PSI would take place in Lampung. “Of course, he will decide, Mas Kaesang will decide. His presence today is as he has conveyed, as a motivator,” Bestari said. PSI DPP Daily Chairman Ahmad Ali stated that Jokowi has repeatedly expressed support to help PSI. This support takes the form of visiting several regions to meet with PSI cadres. However, Ali could not confirm when Jokowi will join PSI, nor what position he will be given. “The decision on Jokowi’s position is not within my authority,” he said when contacted on 19 June 2026. Previously, PSI DPP Deputy Chair of the Advisory Board Grace Natalie said Jokowi would soon wear the PSI jacket as Chairman of the Advisory Board before touring Indonesia. The statement was made by Grace during a Special Regional Coordination Meeting on 12 June 2026, ahead of Joko Widodo’s visit to East Nusa Tenggara in July 2026. “So PSI nationally, in all provincial boards, must complete the structure down to the village and sub-district level. Not only in NTT, this is happening simultaneously in other regions because next year we enter verification, and we must quickly finalise it so that the Father of the Advisory Board can formally wear the PSI jacket and greet the public,” Grace said, as quoted from her statement. Jokowi will begin his political safari from 26 to 28 June 2026. Groups of Jokowi supporters have mapped out several visit points for the seventh president. The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia is scheduled to attend PSI regional coordination meetings in Tulang Bawang and Mesuji regencies on the first day. Jokowi will also attend the anniversary celebration of Gajah City in Central Lampung Regency. “This region was chosen because it is synonymous with the PSI symbol,” said Chairman of the Nusantara Brigade, Relly Reagen, in Jakarta on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.
