Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, stated that the Papua region must advance to the same level as other islands that have already developed their infrastructure.

“We also want the people of Papua to experience what the people of Java Island feel regarding infrastructure,” Kaesang said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

Kaesang conveyed this while attending the PSI Papua Pegunungan Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorwil) in Wamena and inaugurating Deputy Regent of Tolikara, Yotam Wonda, as Chairman of the PSI Regional Leadership Council (DPW PSI) for Papua Pegunungan.

Kaesang also said that Papua is part of the family of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo.

“Believe me, ladies and gentlemen, our entire family often visits Papua, to all the provinces in Papua, because we truly love the people of Papua,” he stated.

On that occasion, Yotam Wonda explained that Kaesang’s arrival in Wamena was welcomed with the Aster dance from the Dani tribe in the Baliem Valley. Yotam admitted that he was very happy and moved by Kaesang’s arrival.

“At the airport earlier, I felt very moved when I saw Mas Kaesang arrive and set foot in this Baliem Valley,” he said.

He also praised Kaesang for reaching Papua Pegunungan. Because many party chairmen and children of former state leaders have never visited Papua Pegunungan.

“According to the earlier information, this is the second time Mas Kaesang has come to Papua Pegunungan, which is rarely done by other political party leaders and children of other former state leaders. I see simplicity in the figure of Mas Kaesang,” he added.
