Kaesang Projects Paskalis Imadawa to Become Governor of South Papua
Merauke, VIVA – The General Chairman of the PSI Central Board, Kaesang Pangarep, has given a signal of support to Paskalis Imadawa, Chairman of the PSI South Papua Provincial Board, to run for governor in the upcoming regional elections.
Kaesang conveyed this during his attendance at the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorwil) as well as the inauguration of the chairman of the Provincial and District Boards of PSI Merauke, South Papua.
In his speech, Kaesang praised the figure of Paskalis, whom he said is easily recognised by the public because his face is displayed at Merauke Airport.
“We should be proud of him because every time we arrive in Merauke from anywhere, we will see his smiling face at the airport, looking dignified in his deputy governor attire,” said Kaesang, quoted on Monday, 11 May 2026.
The youngest son of Indonesia’s 7th President hopes that Paskalis does not stop at just being deputy governor, but can advance further in his political career.
“I hope that in the future he does not just stop as deputy governor; it must be better going forward. Ready, Chairman?” stated Kaesang.
Kaesang also asked all PSI cadres in South Papua to work solidly from the DPRT level, DPC, DPD to DPW so that the party can have greater political strength in the region.
According to him, adding legislative seats is an important asset for promoting PSI cadres to run as regional heads at the provincial or regency/city levels.
“All of you friends must also help. Earlier the chairman also said the seats must be increased to four. Yes, so we can field our own regional heads. Don’t you want to become Governor?” said Kaesang.
