Kaesang Launches PSI Free Homecoming Event, First Bus Bound for Solo
Jakarta — Kaesang Pangarep, Chairman of the Solidarity Indonesia Party (PSI), launched a free homecoming initiative organised by his party.
At the event held in the car park of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex, the youngest son of Indonesia’s seventh President Joko Widodo appeared alongside his wife, Erina Gundono, and PSI Secretary General Raja Juli Antoni.
When asked about this Eid homecoming, Kaesang declined to make a statement to the media, instead directing journalists to Raja Juli as the party’s secretary general.
At the same venue, Raja Juli stated that the event represented the party’s celebration of Eid al-Fitr. “Homecoming is not merely a physical move from the city to the village, but also about maintaining family ties,” said Raja Juli.
He explained that the free homecoming initiative was part of distributing the wealth concentrated in the capital city to rural villages. “This is part of PSI’s expression of concern in celebrating Eid al-Fitr this year,” he added.
Raja Juli disclosed that 200 buses were dispatched through the free homecoming programme, carrying a total of 10,800 passengers. He noted that Solo was among the primary destinations, with the first bus bound for that city.
