Kaesang Announces Candidacy for DPR RI from Central Java V in 2029 Election

The Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Kaesang Pangarep, has announced his candidacy for the House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Central Java V electoral district in the 2029 general election. The announcement was made during a Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of the PSI Solo City chapter on Saturday (25/7/2026). Kaesang admitted that his original plan was to visit Solo solely to meet with Persis Solo supporters. However, as the visit coincided with the PSI Solo regional coordination meeting, he took the opportunity to declare his electoral intentions. ‘I actually came to Solo just for Persis Solo, but it happened to coincide with the Solo DPD Rakorda, so I might as well announce that I will be a legislative candidate here,’ Kaesang stated. In his address to PSI cadres, Kaesang urged all party officials and prospective legislative candidates to maintain unity and avoid internal conflict ahead of the 2029 elections. ‘There must be no conflict, and regarding the structure, for those not running in 2029, I ask for your help and support to remain solid so we can win the 2029 election,’ he said. He stressed that this directive was issued not in his role as PSI Chairman, but as a legislative candidate for the Central Java V electoral district. Kaesang also reminded fellow legislative candidates not to compete for the same voter base, which could trigger internal friction within the party.
