Kaesang Announces Candidacy for DPR RI from Central Java V in 2029 Election

SOLO — Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep has announced he will run as a candidate for the House of Representatives (DPR RI) from Electoral District (Dapil) Central Java V in the 2029 general election. The announcement was made while attending the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorda) of PSI’s Solo city branch on Saturday (25 July 2026).

Kaesang admitted he had originally planned to come to Solo only to meet Persis Solo supporters. However, as his visit coincided with the PSI Solo Rakorda, he took the opportunity to announce his candidacy plans.

“I actually came to Solo originally just for Persis Solo, but it happened to coincide with the Rakorda of the Solo city branch, so I took the chance to announce that I will be a legislative candidate here,” said Kaesang.

In his address to PSI cadres, Kaesang asked all party officials and prospective legislative candidates to maintain unity and avoid internal conflict ahead of the 2029 election.

“There must be no conflict, and regarding the party structure, for those who do not win seats in 2029, I ask for their help and support to stay solid so we can win the 2029 election,” he said.

He stressed that this message was delivered not merely as PSI’s General Chairman, but as a prospective legislative candidate from the Central Java V constituency.

“The message I conveyed earlier was not my message as General Chairman. It was my message as a prospective legislative candidate for the DPR RI from Central Java District 5,” he said.

Kaesang also reminded PSI’s legislative candidates not to fight over voter bases in ways that could spark friction within the party.
