Kadin Strengthens Student Development to Seize Business Opportunities
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is strengthening entrepreneurship development among university students to help the younger generation seize business opportunities in the digitalisation era.
Kadin Indonesia’s Deputy Chair for Women and Children Empowerment, Tatyana Sentani Sutara, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that one such effort was carried out through the Womenpreneur Development Forum, themed Unlocking Digital Opportunity, at Bakrie University on Tuesday (23/6).
The activity, held in collaboration with the Indonesian Women Entrepreneurs Association (IWAPI), Bakrie University, and Shopee Indonesia, serves as a platform for the younger generation, especially women, to enhance their capacity and leverage opportunities emerging in the digital economy.
According to her, the forum is part of the Womenpreneur Goes to Campus programme, which aims to encourage more young people to enter the business world.
“Kadin wants to encourage the creation of more womenpreneurs through our Womenpreneur Goes to Campus programme. We go into campuses to encourage young people to become entrepreneurs,” said Tatyana.
She noted that women’s economic empowerment is one of Kadin Indonesia’s main focuses. Therefore, the majority of participants in the activity were women.
Tatyana assessed that the role of women in the digital economy continues to show positive development, as seen from the increasing participation of women in various technology and digitalisation development programmes.
Through these capacity-building programmes, she hopes more women will be able to develop their potential, both as business actors and as drivers of the economy amidst the ongoing digital transformation.
“We want women to be more economically independent so they have strength, and as we know, women-owned MSMEs play a very important role in the Indonesian economy. So this must certainly continue to be encouraged and improved,” concluded Tatyana.
On the same occasion, Bakrie University Vice Rector M. Tri Andika Kurniawan emphasised that entrepreneurship is one of the main outputs the university aims to produce. According to him, students need to be equipped with practical skills to build businesses from an early stage.
“We want students to have real provisions to build businesses. Many entrepreneurial activities in Indonesia are driven by women,” he said.
