Kadin strengthens exports of Indonesian agricultural products and MSMEs to Japan
The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is strengthening efforts to increase the export of Indonesian agricultural products and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to Japan through strategic collaborations with various parties to expand market access for national flagship products.
Devi Erna Rachmawati, Vice Chairperson for Agriculture at Kadin Indonesia, stated that Japan is a strategic market with high demand for high-quality and environmentally friendly agricultural products. In an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday, the collaboration was discussed during a meeting held in Tokyo, Japan, on 31 July 2026, involving Tokyo SMEs, the Kadin Indonesia Bilateral Committee, and business partners in Japan.
According to Rachmawati, this collaboration is aimed at bridging Indonesian entrepreneurs to penetrate the Japanese market by improving product quality, standardisation, certification, business matching, and strengthening distribution networks. “This collaboration is a concrete step by Kadin Indonesia to strengthen national exports. We want to ensure that Indonesian MSME and agricultural products are able to compete in the Japanese market through quality improvement, innovation, and sustainable business partnerships,” said Devi.
In the initial stage, members of Kadin Indonesia’s Agriculture Division will prioritise the export of several flagship commodities, including tempeh, cocopeat products as an eco-friendly planting medium for the horticulture and greenhouse sectors, and organic fertilisers that support sustainable agriculture.
In addition to expanding trade, the cooperation also opens opportunities for investment, technology transfer, downstream industry development, and capacity building for Indonesian MSMEs to meet global market standards. Through synergy with Tokyo SMEs, the organisation hopes that more national entrepreneurs will be able to enter the Japanese market. Furthermore, this collaboration is part of Kadin Indonesia’s commitment to driving national economic growth through the strengthening of international trade, MSME development, and the modernisation of the agricultural sector to enhance global competitiveness.
